Emma Baxter, Tiny Toes Reflexage™ Founder

Tiny Toes was founded after Emma’s own life changing experience. Emma was widowed when her son was just 16 months old, after losing her husband suddenly.

After several years juggling her career as an intensive care nurse and life as a single parent, Emma found love again and later remarried. Following a long struggle with infertility, she gave birth to a daughter in 2012. Unfortunately, the first few months were incredibly challenging for them both – her new baby was born with various medical conditions, including seven holes in her heart, and Emma developed postnatal depression.

It was during this time that Emma discovered reflexology and after her first session she was converted! Reflexology not only helped to relieve some of the struggles Emma was facing with her own mental health, she found it also seemed to alleviate the pain her new baby was experiencing.

From that moment, Emma knew that she wanted to help others discover the benefits of reflexology too. After 18 years, she made the decision to leave nursing and retrain in reflexology. Using her professional background and her lived experience to inform her practice, she developed the Tiny Toes Reflexage Technique. Her approved course is available for fellow reflexologists to train in, and the Techniques have reached parents across the UK, Ireland, Canada, and Australia.

Emma lives in Northampton with her son, daughter, husband and gorgeous cockapoo Harry. When she’s not busy running Tiny Toes alongside her adult reflexology business Lavender Room, Emma enjoys photography (you’ll often spot her latest snaps on Instagram). She spends most weekends by the sea and loves paddleboarding, camping and exploring in her van, Daisy.

Claire Plain, Tiny Toes Reflexage™ Co-Creator

Claire joined forces with Emma in 2018, after qualifying as a reflexologist and taking the Tiny Toes Reflexage™ course herself.

Her own introduction to reflexology also came during a challenging period in her life. Claire was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in May 2012. She was offered various complementary therapies to support her while she was undergoing chemotherapy and it was then that her love of reflexology began! She found it to be beneficial in helping her to manage the side-effects of her cancer treatment, as well as helping her to find some relaxation and cope with her diagnosis. After 12 rounds of chemotherapy over six months, Claire was given the all-clear and she has been cancer-free since 2013.

Since then, Claire has trained in a number of alternative therapies herself and holds additional qualifications in Reproflexology™, Advanced maternity (including postnatal care) and is also trained in Reiki. Having these alongside her Tiny Toes Reflexage™ training means that she can offer her clients a real holistic experience – treating them pre-conception, all the way through to helping their beautiful babies when they arrive. Claire has also been a primary school teacher for the last 18 years and still teaches part-time.

Claire lives in Bedfordshire with her two young daughters and husband Ben. When she’s not busy working, Claire loves travelling and spending time by the seaside (in fact, her in law’s caravan is just along the beach from Emma’s). As much as she loves reading and gardening, Claire is actually a total adrenaline junkie – she’s skydived, bungy jumped and even stood on the edge of an active volcano!
